Ta Prohm

Ta Prohm, Cambodia – 2018. Ta Prohm was built in the late 12th century in the reign of King Jayavarman VII. It is a Buddhist temple and was dedicated to the Kings mother. It is located to the east of Angkor Thom. The temple has been left largely in its natural state since its’ re-discovery' by French explorers. It is surrounded by jungle and it is partially overgrown with the roots and limbs of massive trees growing out of the ruins. Silk-cotton and Strangler Fig are two of the tree species that are growing in the ruins. The temple was featured in the 2001 movie “Tomb Raider”
